The short answer: A reliable timeframe can only be given after identifying the model, diagnosing the device and checking part availability. The installation itself may be quick, but waiting for approval, a hidden fault, calibration or testing can extend the overall turnaround time. A promise of a repair „while you wait" without this information is not a plan. ITHOPE is an independent out-of-warranty repair service in Brno and is not an Apple Authorised Service Provider.
What determines the repair time
- Device intake and initial fault reproduction. An intermittent issue may require longer observation than a cracked screen.
- Diagnostics. This determines whether the fault lies in a component, its power supply, a connector or another assembly.
- Quote and approval. The time spent waiting for the customer’s decision is separate from the service centre’s work.
- Availability of the correct component. The device’s product name is not enough; the exact generation and variant matter.
- Installation, configuration and testing. After the repair, related functions are checked—not just whether the device powers on.
The three queues where a repair actually waits
When you ask, „How long will it take?", you are really asking about three largely separate things:
- The diagnostics queue. When someone can examine the device and how long they need to reproduce the fault reliably.
- The decision queue. The time between receiving the quote and giving your approval. The repair service has no control over this stage, yet it is often the longest one for business customers.
- The parts queue. Waiting for a component, which only begins after approval—not before. Ordering a part without approval means risking it being left unused in stock.
The middle queue is the easiest to shorten. If you already know who will approve the quote and up to what amount when handing over the device, you can often save more time than by speeding up the repair work itself.
Why identical symptoms can take different amounts of time
| Case | What affects the timeframe |
|---|---|
| battery replacement | model, condition of the chassis, type of part and subsequent testing |
| cracked display | frame deformation, availability of the correct variant, sensors |
| liquid-damaged device | the extent of corrosion only becomes clear after opening the device |
| MacBook not charging | adapter, cable, port, battery or logic board |
| iPad not responding to touch | glass, touch layer, display or frame |
With liquid damage or a previous unprofessional repair, even the scope of work cannot be guaranteed in advance. Once the issue has been assessed, the service centre should provide a new quote rather than continue without approval.
The source of the part affects the wait—and that is a separate question from quality
This is the variable most often overlooked. The same repair can take very different amounts of time depending on where the component comes from:
| Part source | What it means for the timeframe |
|---|---|
| new genuine part | typically ordered for a specific model; the timeframe depends on the supply channel and cannot be promised in advance |
| used genuine part | depends on whether a suitable donor part in comparable condition is available |
| refurbished part | the wait for the component also includes verifying what the refurbishment covered |
| aftermarket (compatible) part | stock availability is often different from genuine parts, but quality is not uniform and must be assessed separately |
We emphasise this because „we have it in stock„ and „it is the correct part for your model" are not the same thing. For each repair, we will explain which of these options is involved and why we recommend it—but we do not promise part availability or a completion date until the exact model and scope have been confirmed.
Where particular product lines typically take longer
| Product line and model | What typically extends the timeframe |
|---|---|
| MacBook Air M1 2020, MacBook Pro 13″ M1 2020 (A2338) | determining whether the issue is the battery, port or power circuitry on the logic board—meaning longer diagnostics, not longer installation |
| MacBook Pro 14″ and 16″ 2021 (M1 Pro / M1 Max) | the display assembly and part variant depend on screen size; more ports also mean more final tests |
| Intel-based MacBook Pro models from 2016–2019 | on many units, a keyboard fault cannot be resolved by replacing a single key and instead requires the entire top case assembly |
| MacBook Air M2 2022 | alignment and calibration after work on the display lid, adding work after installation |
| iPhone 12 and newer | testing the touch screen, sensors and cameras after display replacement, plus a possible system configuration step |
| iPad 9th generation (A2602/A2604), iPad 10th generation (A2696/A2757) | the bonded display construction and the need to let the assembly seat properly before testing |
None of these rows is a promise. They identify where time is most commonly „lost" with each product line—and where it makes sense to ask specific questions about the timeframe.
How to request a useful estimate
Send the model, a description of the symptoms, information about any impact or liquid exposure, and photographs. Ask separately about the estimated time needed for diagnostics, ordering the part and completing the repair after approval. For a business device, state when you need the „repair or do not repair" decision—not just your ideal return date.
The estimate should include a condition, such as „subject to confirmation of the fault and part availability." If that condition changes, the service centre should inform you. Apple states that service options depend on part availability and location; the same practical limitation also applies outside its authorised service network.
A useful question to ask is: „What happens to the timeframe if you find a second fault after opening the device?" An answer such as „Nothing, we will still finish on time" is a warning sign. The correct answer should explain that work will stop and that you will receive a revised assessment and timeframe.
How to speed up the handover without compromising security
- bring the correct charger or accessory used when the fault occurs;
- have your own verified backup—we do not offer data recovery from mobile phones, and a standard hardware repair does not guarantee that your data will be preserved;
- designate someone who can approve the quote and state their spending limit;
- do not provide the password to your Apple Account or sensitive applications;
- arrange an alternative way to receive calls and two-factor authentication codes;
- provide the exact model, not just its colour and size.
Why you will not hear us promise a repair „while you wait"
Because that would be a promise made before anyone has opened the device. A quick repair is welcome when circumstances allow it, but treating it as the default promise pressures a service centre into two poor decisions—installing whatever happens to be available and cutting the final testing short.
What we can tell you is when we will accept the device, when diagnostics will take place and when you will receive our assessment and quote. We will add the repair timeframe to that quote, together with the condition on which it depends.
Booking and handover in Brno
On the Apple repair service Brno page, we first verify the model and fault; we confirm the timeframe and price after diagnostics, without making a general promise of a repair while you wait. If you need to discuss the timeframe quickly, call 774 777 774—we will tell you straight away whether bringing the device to us makes sense or whether another route would be more appropriate. ITHOPE is not an Apple Authorised Service Provider and only handles out-of-warranty repairs for supported models.
Frequently asked questions
How long does an iPhone 13 battery replacement take?
We do not promise a specific timeframe. We accept the model for assessment, and you will receive a realistic completion date with the quote after we have checked the phone’s condition and part availability.
Can I get a completion date over the phone in advance?
We can provide an approximate timeframe, but not a firm date. Without inspecting the device, it is impossible to know whether there is one fault or two.
Why does the wait for a part only begin after I give my approval?
Because your approval determines which part variant we order. Ordering it before approval would mean charging you for a decision you had not made.
Will not having a backup delay the repair?
No, but it increases the risk. Hardware repair is not data recovery, and losing content from a device without a backup may be irreversible.
